Mounting Instructions

How To Install Your PIKEPASS

  1. Clean and dry the interior windshield behind the rearview mirror with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol.
  2. Remove the clear plastic tape from the backside mounting strips on the PIKEPASS.
  3. Position the PIKEPASS on the windshield behind the rearview mirror, as shown in the illustration below.
NOTE: Install the PIKEPASS a minimum of 2” from any metal surface including the rearview mirror mount arm.
  4. Press the PIKEPASS firmly against the windshield.

Exceptions to the rule:

If the vehicle has a very vertical windshield, it helps to place the transponder lower e.g. Jeeps, trucks, buses.

Important: If the front windshield of your vehicle has any form of metallic particles or the PIKEPASS is mounted directly behind any type of metal substance such as an exterior sun visor, after-market window tint or window antennae, the tag may not read properly and can incur incorrect toll charges. Please select the Special Vehicles Directory for a listing of vehicles that contain metal components in the windshield. If your vehicle contains an exterior sun guard, window antennae or after-market window tint on the front windshield, please call the Customer Service Center for assistance.

How to detect metallic oxide in windshields:

To determine if your vehicle may contain metallic oxides in the windshield, face the vehicle wearing polarized sunglasses. If the vehicle’s windshield looks purple, the windshield probably contains metallic oxide, which can reflect an RF signal. If you observe this occurrence, you must visit one of or two Customer Service Centers for additional testing and confirmation as the window mounted PIKEPASS will not operate properly and an alternative tag is required.

Note: If transferring a PIKEPASS to another vehicle, ensure the additional vehicle(s) are equipped with mounting strips for proper PIKEPASS mounting.  If you need additional mounting strips, please call the PIKEPASS Customer Service Center.
